What is Fab?
Fab is a new marketplace from Epic Games that will give all digital content creators a single destination to discover, share, buy and sell digital assets. Its mission is to inspire and enable the next generation of creators to build the emerging metaverse together. It will unify the ArtStation Marketplace with Sketchfab, Unreal Engine Marketplace, and Quixel into one site that brings the best content, product features, and underlying tech together in service of creators. Fab will offer an expansive library of high-quality digital assets from studios, brands, and independent digital artists who will benefit from an 88% revenue share. Learn more at Fab.com.
What kind of content will be available on Fab?
Fab’s expansive library of 2D and 3D assets will include almost anything that creators and developers can use to build digital experiences, including 3D models, 2D art resources, materials, plugins, templated maps, environments, VFX, sound, digital humans, animations, and more.
When will Fab launch?
The Alpha version of Fab is already live as a library plugin within the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). In the coming months, we will be adding additional content and product features to increase the tool’s asset library and utility. In 2024, the Fab experience will also be delivered through a website.
How will Fab affect ArtStation?
ArtStation will continue to be the go-to portfolio platform for digital artists. The ArtStation site and its features will remain the same as they are today, while the ArtStation Marketplace will be combined with the Unreal Engine Marketplace, Sketchfab, and Quixel into Fab when it launches as a unified marketplace in 2024.
ArtStation Marketplace sellers will be able to migrate storefronts and products over to Fab, and they will still be discoverable through ArtStation. ArtStation will continue to be a hub for artists to showcase their work, find jobs, discover resources and education, and participate in community activities and challenges.
How will I be able to move my products from ArtStation to Fab?
ArtStation will release an automated migration tool to make the transition as seamless as possible for all sellers. The tool is currently in development and we’ll be sharing more details in 2024.
What happens to any ArtStation Marketplace products that are not migrated over to Fab?
All sellers will be given at least 45 days notice to migrate their products to Fab, if they wish to do so. After that, any products remaining on ArtStation Marketplace will be unpublished and no longer available for sale. Products will be unpublished from your store but the rest of your ArtStation profile will not be affected.
How will Fab handle revenue sharing?
We’re committed to offering sellers the most favorable revenue share in the industry. All Fab users earn a standard revenue share of 88%.
What will happen to my ArtStation Pro selling benefits?
There are no plans to change any ArtStation Pro benefits at this time.
What will happen to the products I have purchased?
All previously purchased products will remain available through your product library. This library will remain accessible as a legacy library. All new purchases made after ArtStation Marketplace’s migration to Fab will be accessible through Fab’s product library.
Will the products that I sell still be visible on my ArtStation profile?
Yes. When you migrate your ArtStation store to Fab, your ArtStation profile will automatically display a Fab storefront widget. This widget will display products from your Fab store, and take your customers through a Fab-powered checkout.
Will my products be automatically mapped? Will categories be the same?
We will do our best to automatically map your existing products to the same or similar categories on Fab.
